School Daze and DNA and Hurricanes ... Oh My

Image
My baby started school today. I'm okay with it, she's totally ready. She's so mature.  ... still.  She's my baby.  My youngest offspring.  My last child.  I mentioned to hubs as we walked across the lawn from the bus stop, that it was a really good thing we did the whole "big V" BEFORE today ... as I am suddenly longing for itty bitty baby things to be a part of my life again.  He put his arm around me and smiled a knowing smile. I hadn't cried ... until then. Sigh. It's all good. ********* Yesterday afternoon, my two little doglinks used half of my brand new cotton swabs to do DNA testing on each other.  Their goal was to prove they were super heroes.  Oh. My. ********* So ... Hurricane Earl is heading straight for us. In fact, the eye of the storm is at this stage, projected to pass right over my community. You see right where that category 1 hurricane passes over NS? Yeah, ...

Frustration - TYVMT Style

I am so frustrated right now ... right this very minute, I could cry ... scream ... AND ... wet my pants! I thought today might be a good day to dust off "Thank You Very Much Thursday" again and give 'er a whirl. Without further ado ... TYVM, "unnamed bank" Broker Services Division - for fucking over this lovely young (newly) single mother of two in the purchase of her first new home on her own ... your complete and absolute disregard for the three lives you were directly affecting (never mind my own part in this) in such a profound way and your callous and heartless attitude toward this situation turns my blood to ice in my veins. May the fleas of a thousand camels infest your collective nether regions and prosper. TYVM, Narci - for informing me (when I requested your assistance with the previously mentioned client's file) that I "could handle it" and that I was becoming too emotionally vested in the situation. PUH!! Says I. Let'...

BLOGOCKINESS

ARGH! I'm having a bad combo of blogger-block and business ... blogockiness... okay ... and a little sick humor sprinkled on top. I've been busy at stupid work ... and besides that, involved in something that I am not really ready to talk about on my blog at this point. Suffice it to say, if it is successful, you'll hear about it, and if I fall on my face ... well ... you'll get to listen to me bitching about it for a few months before I run outta fodder and have to move on to something else. (Arn'tcha excited?!) Life has been hectic in a mundane and (ew - ready for a $5 word??) pedestrian sort of way. Each day starts and ends in precisely the same manner as its predecessor - with filling as similar as Boston cream and vanilla pudding. Don't get me wrong ... this is not meant as a complaint ... I'm okay without the drama. It has been my experience that wishing for excitement is tantamount to wishing for drama ... and we all know what happens then. Nope ...

I is Back

It's been a busy first day back ... and the day is drawing to a close, but I wanted to pop in and say helloooo ...  Hellooo. I've been around to a few blogs and even commented on a couple, but I haven't had the kinda time I need to really read up on all my bleeps and their respective lives ... nope ... no time at all during my VACATION. Thankfully, I am now back to work and have all sorts of free time to play with my imaginary friends.  BAH!!! ... and you people wonder why I have such a poopy boss.

Mental Constipation

Image
(He doesn't read my page, but just in case ... no infringement intended, Moooog ) I am suffering from writer's constipation. Not that I actually consider myself a "writer" (in air quotes) per se ... only in the simple fact that the verb which is used to convey the act of putting my hard lumpy thoughts on the computer screen is, in fact, 'writing'. Thus making me, the noun in question, a 'writer'. Boy, that was confusing. There ... now that I have THAT outta the way. *crickets* Seriously ... constipated ... in the head. That can't be good for a person. The weekend was good. My bud came for a visit. We drank 'wodka' with cranberry juice and 7Up. She spent the entire evening wearing this: It's a Scottish cow hat. There were parts of the night where she was divulging highly poignant, personal and serious thoughts into the warm summer's eve air ... all the while with this thing on her head. At one particularly tense part of her sto...

I AM Canadian

...and a happy fricken Canada Day to you, too.

Image
I can say with complete honesty that my general outlook on life has been altered... let's hope that is permanent. First, let me say: Second, I had such a great night Wednesday. For my non Canadian friends, Wednesday was Canada Day Eve ... which in layman's terms means a night of drinking and merriment. And merriment, there was. What a great night. We barbecued and sat out on the deck and watched the girls freeze in the pool ... good times.  Yesterday, I didn't do much other than bum around the house. Nothing too strenuous, for sure. We barbecued again for dinner ... plus I had made more seafood chowder with scallops and shrimp ... nummers. While sitting at the dinner table, I noticed a headache coming on fairly strong. I got up and went out on the deck to get my water bottle (so I could take some advil) and I turned kinda funny when I tried to close the screen. I then went inside and after swallowing the pills, sat down in the recliner and proceeded to put my feet up i...
