Ahhh ... Spring

Image
It's like the contented sigh of the year ... don't you find?     After such a long season as Winter ... when teeny hints of life poke their delicate little selves into the world ... ...and just there ... if you look very closely, you see the quiet stirrings of Mother Nature's design (look closely) Then, you can observe the 'other', not so indigenous wild life ... they don't seem overly happy with Mommy and her camera It was a burry day, despite the strength of the sun ... Cooper dawg was less than impressed with the fact that I had recently sheared him.   I enjoyed a little quiet time before the natives got restless ... time where I sat and sipped, and immersed myself in a glorious early Spring morning ... and coffee ... and finished "Room" Yes, I really was there ... see my foot?   Then, it was time for a little child labor. I promised if they collected the sticks from around the lawn...

So ... we are sitting around the table, enjoying a lovely meal of my creation; seafood chowder, BBQ steak, little tiny potatoes and green salad. As per usual, my girls were rotating between fighting with each other, singing ... at the dinner table(which makes me batty), and complaining about what they were being forced to eat. I happened to mention that I wanted to have a feed of lobster ...  I haven't had any in a couple of years. This began a conversation about the cooking of zee lobster. Stretch had piped up to note that lobster was a divine treat sent from the gods ... or - "MMMMMMMMM - LAWWWBSSSTERRRRR" at which point, Shorty informed us that she respectfully disagreed ... or - "EEEEEWWWW GROSSSSSSS!!" She went on to say that we would only buy lobster from the grocery store that was already dead ... so that we were not being 'mean to Mother Nature'. I'm not really certain why I felt compelled to correct her ... I mean - why, Bambi ... ...

Seriously, Mother Nature - What Were You Thinking??

One of my most faviest of favorite pass times is sitting out on my deck on a warm summer's eve with my best guy and my hubs *snort* ... okay, but if we were being honest here ... my best guy is , in fact the Captain - so, ya know ... hubs is okay with that. For as long as I can remember, I have derived a mystical inner peace from watching a hot summer day melt into night, inch by inch. I love the night - I always have. Hubs seems to share that love with me. He's a camper at heart. Sitting around a campfire, gazing out at universe full of sparkling stars ... oh, my heart sighs just imagining it (and I'm currently only 5 hours away from experiencing it tonight). It's one of our MANY spiritual connection points. The house we bought 2 years ago (thus destroying our finances) overlooks an inlet of the bay of Fundy. We can also look out into more open ocean, simply by turning our heads to the left. The view from our back yard is breath taking, it truly is. Almost makes i...

The Troll Under the Bridge

~Disclaimer~ I am NOT looking for sympathy ... I am bitching to vent - because I don't have room in my head for the petty stupid crap that is elbowing its way through my thoughts right now. Ladies ... start your engines. Today is Shorty's birthday party. Her 5th birthday is on Tuesday, but parties are better held on weekends, no? She went to a birthday at McDonalds just after Christmas and has been obsessed with that idea ever since ... counting down the days ... planning her guest list. We gave her the choice of venues - even a house party like we had for her sister in January - but she opted for Mickey-D's. Enter my sister. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate anything that is done for my kids - I do. My sister is not overly involved in my kids' lives. She is busy planning her move to the UK at the end of the month and she also blames me for being overprotective in not allowing her to drive them all over hell's half acre. It's a sore spot. I won't ela...

My Cousin, Vinny ... well Angela, actually

My cousin came for a visit last night. We live in different provinces now (though ... less than a 3 hour drive apart - so I have no real excuse for this ... but) - I haven't seen her in eons. No, I don't know the exact definition of an eon. It has been a helluva long time, though. I really enjoy her company. She was my bud when we were growing up. More like a sister than a cousin - we even looked very much like we were sisters. She is 2 years my senior. I used to get to go to her school dances when I really had no business being at one due to my age ... nobody carded you at school dances, though. It was Divine. I was from a different city (...and it was an actual 'city') and the majority of the small town's kids were unduly impressed by my status. Plus, I was fresh meat ... and relatively cute to boot. Needless to say - they were golden times. I remember this one night, we got schnockered on vodka and kool-aid in her bedroom before going to one of these dances ... I...
